Instructional Program-1st &2nd
This is a fun learn-to-play program. While we will have some scrimmages, our emphasis is on skills and learning the game.
Who
First and Second Grade boys and girls who live in Weymouth.

When
On Saturdays from December 7th through February 1st.
1st graders at 10:00-10:50am
2nd graders at 11:00-11:50am
This is an eight-week season. The final Saturday will be 02/08/25.
No practice on Sat. 12/28. And when the Weymouth schools are closed for snow or other reason, the gyms are closed. We hope to have some limited ability to make up a missed session.

Sergeant Chesna Gym at Chapman Jr. High School.
games
Players will be broken out into teams with a high school player as a coach. Even though they do not play actual games, these are real teams that stick together for the season.
Cost
The fee for the season is $125. We offer a payment plan to all families. Please contact us if you have concerns.
Jerseys
Jerseys will be distributed the first session.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my old LeagueApps registration account still work?
No! We have made improvements to our registration system. We now use Crossbar (this website). We rolled it out over the summer to positive feedback. Your old LeagueApps account will not work!
You will need to create a Crossbar account for all things WJBL. If you already have one from the Summer League please continue using that one!
My player has never touched a basketball. Is this ok?
Yes! We are here to teach the game. We have lowered hoops and smaller balls. Many kids have zero experience and have a blast.
Are there girls?
Yes! last year we were about 20% girls. In our experience this is just fine, especially for the younger grades. But if your girl wants an all-girl environment we encourage you to check out our friends Weymouth Girls Basketball at WeymouthGirlsBasketball.com.
When does registration close?
Registration will be open either until November 15th, or we reach capacity, whichever comes first.
Who are the coaches?
While the sessions are organized and supervised by WJBL Board members, we select boy and girl varsity basketball players as coaches. They are expected to be role models both on and off the court. The boys are all WJBL alumni.
Can my player be on a team with friends?
We break the players into teams during the first session. We take players' preferences into account. We can usually figure this out just by who they are standing with. It is administratively too difficult to take requests by parents by email, thank you for your understanding.
